Group Poem - Roxbury Poetry Festival 2026

Published on 29 June 2026 at 14:58

Underground Bookshelf attended the Roxbury Poetry Festival on June 27th, 2026. Each person who visited our table had a chance to fill in one line of the following poem. Thank you so much to everyone who participated. It was so much fun to see what each new person added to the project. We will write our next group poem on June 25th at the Disability Pride Celebration at the Museum of Science. Members of the Underground Bookshelf community have access to free tickets through a discount code. Please reach out to me at contact.undergroundbookshelf@gmail.com or visit the Summer Events page to get the code. Booking your tickets in advance is recommended.

The Hilltop Discovery

I found it at the top of the hill,

I was looking for it for a very long time.

I was looking, but not for that.

I searched everywhere,

and then, it happened.

I discovered it was mine.

All along; gently waiting,

Patiently...but at ease.

Feeling calm but now complete.

Fill your cup,

pray for luck,

read and fill

your head my pups.

Go forth into the fields of glass and stone,

find the flowers.

You're not alone.

My head was full of wonder,

my heart full of joy.

Time flies like an arrow,

fruit flies like a banana.

Wonder! Oh, wonder!

You've found yourself!

Sit down!

Eat a peach,

let the juice drip down your chin,

leave it there

and spend your day in stickiness.

For if we are not sticky

how will love attach itself.

Love grows where

open hearts dwell.

Love grows at the

deepest, darkest depths

of our hearts.

Love grows in the cracks.

The light got in through the storms

and thundering.

Love grows within our bodies,

the temple that holds our journey

and lives to talk about it.

And so, on that hill

I found it within.
