Wildflowers (a poem)

Published on 26 June 2025 at 18:52

I see them,

older women with wild hair

all in shades of defiance

purple, pink, blue, green

carrying their stories...

they've held life in their hands

weathered loss, heartbreak,

the long ache of time and love,

their colours speak louder than word

they've earned the right to wear it loud

like flags for battles won,

and their eyes are calm

a testament to all that they faced,

the world has tried to cage them

yet they remain wild as a horizon

unfurling fiercely,

more alive than ever

standing as proof

it never could.
