Summary
A coming-of-age story set in a small village on the edge of the wood, this novella tells the story of self-acceptance, found family, and the power within.
Like every other girl in her village, Kyla has been taught to ward off curses with the right concoction of herbs, but when the curse of a new plague falls upon the Village, the medicinal and mystical knowledge of the Aunts fails to purge the illness from ailing citizens. Following an accident, Kyla learns to adapt to a new disability, but her difference leads her to become the target of an all-out witch-hunt. In order to survive, she must come to understand and accept herself.

About the Author
From a young age, Laura knew something was missing from the books she read. Even today, so many of the books that reach readers lack strong women and femme-presenting characters, or positive representation for the queer and disabled communities. Laura's writing emphasizes characters, identities, and experiences she missed out on in her youth.
