Bashful as Clouds (a poem)

Published on 17 April 2025 at 14:18

floating across

the sky in my heart

bashful clouds

shaped like

her naked soul,

drifting languidly

softening the sharp edges

of a world otherwise too loud,

each cluster a fragment

of her essence,

cumulus and wild

stratus and bright,

the slow dissolve

of her outline

slipping through my fingertips,

like a breathless confession

she’s there, then not

always out of reach,

dancing in the twilight

where dreams touch the horizon

as I sit here

tracing shapes

in the air.
