No Resource Post This Week

Just as a heads up, I wanted to let you all know that there will be no resource post this week. That's not because I'm giving up on resources, though. I have a couple of big resource projects that I am currently working on. The first project - which I am hoping to release by the end of this month - is a curated list of books by self-published and indie authors. I'll continue to add to this list as I find more books and more authors, so this will be a living document. I expect it to be a huge document, but one that could be helpful for connecting readers and authors within their preferred genres. Of course, there are many, many self-published and indie authors as well as small, indie publishers, so this resource will probably never be complete, but it is one that will continue to grow over the years. If you are aware of a self-published/indie book or author that you think belong's on this list, let me know in the comments or email me at contact.undergroundbookshelf@gmail.com

I am similarly working on a couple resource documents for banned books. The first will be a collected list of books in the public domain that have been banned, with links to free digital libraries that carry copies of those books whenever possible. The second list will be banned books that aren't necessarily in the public domain. This list will be more difficult to curate. While finding the names of the books will probably not be too hard, I will have to look harder for libraries that will loan the book to the general public (rather than a small local community) or other avenues for accessing these books as readers. When seeking out these books for resource lists, I try my best to offer links to legitimate sources. Pirating books (or reading and returning them to avoid payment) inevitably hurts the authors who work hard to tell the stories we read on the page (or listen to on audio drives). When not purchasing a book, libraries are a certain way of reading for free while making sure that the author is paid for the important work that they do. If you know of banned books that belong on one of these lists, please let me know in the comments or by using the email address above.
